Brain Fitness – Neurobics – at the Golden Door Spa at The Boulders

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Have fun while increasing your mental muscle!  The Golden Door Spa at The Boulders is offering an innovative class that will give you the opportunity to explore and exercise your brain.  The goal is to enhance your cognition, improve your memory and increase neurotransmitter activity.

Each person perceives the world around them differently.  We know that the adult brain retains the characteristic of plasticity, its capacity to specialize and grow.  With this knowledge, we can slow down the degenerative cognitive loss that is commonly associated with aging.  During each session, you will access the different intelligences and incorporate exercises that activate the functions of the brain.  This process increases neurogenisis (the ability to increase brain cells and dendrites), thereby improving memory.

The American Senior Fitness Association has determined that two factors appear to effectively combat the progression of cognitive degeneration and simultaneously to promote brain fitness, mental stimulation and physical exercise.

Each session includes a broad spectrum of vibrant mental fitness activity innovations designed to increase neurogenisis.  Information on brain health and nutrition support, cognition techniques, brain building workouts and focus on one of the twelve intelligences is included in each session.  For more information, please call the Golden Door Spa at The Boulders at 480.595.3500.
